We care about our communities and about kids. We know how hard it is to raise children even when you have lots of support. We believe that we are all better off in strong communities with healthy families. We want to make high-quality evidence-based education and support available to every parent in Denver and in Colorado.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
President: Casey Hunt
Casey is a scientist and freelance designer by trade, but she first and foremost considers herself a listener and a learner. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Utah and has worked with several non-profit organizations to strengthen their impact through research and design.
Having both utilized and managed community resources for at-risk populations, Casey believes strongly in the power of evidence-based education, in combination with compassion and empathy, to empower marginalized individuals—granting them the dignity they deserve. She is currently located in Washington, DC and spends her spare time hiking with her dog, Boots, and starting—but never finishing—the New York Times crossword puzzle.
Treasurer: Rebecca Hartsough Brentin
Rebecca is a self-described farm kid from Indiana who watched cats, pigs and dogs give birth. She is a singer/scientist who ended up mastering out of a PhD program and is now a sales rep for molecular biology reagents. She didn’t realize how much parents are underserved and families are unsupported until she had her two kids, who are 2 and 4 now. It was huge struggle for her to find accurate birth education, information about perinatal disorders, breastfeeding support and recovery after childbirth. She is really passionate about breastfeeding support and supporting new families, because starting a new baby is incredibly hard.
Secretary: Grace Hartway Honce
Grace is a seasoned nonprofit professional with over 10 years of nonprofit work under her belt. Grace has a passion for evidence based evaluation and research to inform nonprofit work: maximizing resources in this way is essential when serving the underserved. Grace holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Promotion from Winona State University and a Master of Public Health in Community and Behavioral Health from Colorado School of Public Health. Grace is a compassionate, empathetic, energetic public health professional who loves her work inside and out. She also loves her partner (Justin), animals (Harvey, Winston and Oliver) and niece (Amelia) who lives in Minnesota with Grace’s three sisters and parents.
Past President: Katie Krebs MPH
Katie holds a bachelor's degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health. Katie has extensive clinical and social/behavioral research experience and a passion for research and medical ethics. Katie trains cancer researchers as the Education and Development Coordinator at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and devotes her spare time to women's health advocacy and teaching childbirth education. Katie believes that ALL families deserve access to high quality, evidence-based education and resources delivered with compassion and is honored to work with Kith Colorado to make this a reality. Katie lives in Centennial, CO with her partner and two hilarious kids.
Kellie Ramirez has an MA in Human Rights with a certificate in Humanitarian Assistance from the University of Denver's Korbel School of International Studies. She is passionate about working with refugees and immigrants and in her 15 years of experience working with these populations in Nebraska and Colorado she has seen the enormous challenges these families face. After starting her own family and experiencing the typical demands of parenting in today's society she recognized how the additional barriers of language, culture, socioeconomic status and trauma must impact these refugee and immigrant families, preventing them from thriving. With this in mind, Kellie is very excited to be a part of Kith Colorado with its mission to provide quality support services to underserved families. Kellie lives with her husband and three kids in Aurora, CO.
